Merry Crewsmas!

Match 10: Columbus Crew v Montreal Impact

Every year in late March, Crew fans make the pilgramage to Columbus Crew stadium to watch the first home match of the season.  We come from lands near and far.  In our own continency - he and she who tailgate with Jeff (my brother) and Highlife - we had 35 make the voyage.  This beat last year's total of 31.  Places of origin for this year included: Charlotte, Chicago, Washington DC, Harrison NJ, Cincinnati, Tipp City OH, Sarasota FL, and of course Columbus.

The Crewsmas tailgate commenced with champagne at noon.  As always it was a rolling entrance with those who drank the most at Crewsmas Eve making a slightly delayed appearance.

Dusted off the flags, tent, grill, and the beer pong table that proves helpful as a serving table. A special additions to this year's Crewsmas, my brother's own home-brewed Columbus Massive Brew. A hoppy gem with a high alcohol content.

It was the regular tailgate fare...brats, veggie burgers, cheese, veggies, chips and the like.  And Claire's galette du roi!  And lots and lots of beer.

And the found can of Barbasol shaving cream. Thanks Katie!

As for the game we looked a lot better than our preseason game as well as the opening match. The crew took control and distributed the ball well. It was promising to see flashes of greatness from Milovan Mirosevic, and Olman Vargas both had a goal. IN the end we picked up 3 points from a 10 man expansion team. Three points is three points. So the quest for the cup begins!!
